Automating Cloud Infrastructure: Use This as Your Starting Point
Would you like to automate your infrastructure?
Whether you are on AWS (Amazon Web Services), Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure, take advantage of the entire stack SDDC (Software-Defined Data Center) concept.
The logical view will consist of the following:
- Access Layer
- Application Layer
- Services Layer
- Resources Layer
When you think of the Access layer, you will have two major components to address: (1) what you will be using to interact with the resources in the infrastructure you host on your Cloud account, and (2) what networking core and boundary you have in place (e.g., routing, proxy, load balancing, and other security parameters).
The Application layer will consist of your application code and all the configurations you may use for your infrastructure.
Next is the Services layer, which will define the resources you will need on these levels: SaaS (Software as a Service), PaaS (Platform as a Service), and IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service).
Finally, you must address your Resources layer's logical and physical requirements.
You think of computing, storage, virtual networks, servers, disks, and network devices here.
This diagram (see attached) will visualize what you could use as the foundation for anything you build on the Cloud (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
